History of STDCOA
How it started till today
Dr. Jozef Schoen from Czech heritage and his wife Maja fall in love with the Slovakian breed "Slovensky Cuvac"
So he started in 1982 with seting up a studbook and founding the "Slovensky Tchouvatch Dog Club of America"! STDCOA.
Paul Wilkes at that time living in MA was also very involved in the breed. He bought "Germina z Farmy Zbiroh" from Dr. Schoen and started to breed.
Dr. Schoen wanted to sell the club, so Paul Wilkes made contact between Dr. Schoen and Nancy and Ed Smith. Both bought a female out of one of the litter of Paul Wilkes. "Anuska of Goat Hill Farm".
Nancy Smith bought the club and started to continue the studbook.
After she and her husband Ed started a new buisiness ( www.reddoginnandresort.com) they didn't have had time left, to follow up with the studbook. So the registering ended in 1993.
From there to 2008 nothing happened.
Elisabeth Maus, who was very involved in the American Slovensky Cuvac married in 2008 in Texas. As a wedding gift Nancy Smith has overgiven to her all papers of the club.
So 18 new Slovensky Cuvac are now again registered till June 2008.
Several American are interested in buying a Slovensky Cuvac and we are sure, the club will grow.
